Implementation of the project „Small-scale wood and ceramics processing“

Bratunac, May-June 2010. Women's association „Priroda“ Bratunac started the project „Vocational training and employment promotion in the field of small-scale wood and ceramics processing“ with the financial support of dvv international – Office in Sarajevo.

Participants of this training are 20 young, unemployed adults which were divided into three groups according to their interests:

- manufacturing of utility and decorative articles made of clay/ceramic (pottery),

- manufacturing of utility and decorative articles made of wood,

- tiling, grouting, sanitary installations.

There were held 112 hours of theoretical and practical training so far and the following topics were covered:

- preparation of the material (clay); mould making;

- techniques of moulding (mould, potter's wheel), baking, glazing;

- mechanical manufacturing and processing of wood articles;

- decoration methods;

- laying of ceramic tiles, sanitary installations, maintenance;

- planning, organisation, performing and monitoring of the working process;

- compliance to various quality standards;

- protection at work and environmental protection;

- preparing of material specification.

The educational programme an the manufactured products were introduced in June at the Work Fair and at the Economy, Agriculture and Tourism Fair in Bratunac. After the training the most successful participants will have the opportunity to work in the Art and Handicraft Atelier GEA in which the project is implemented. The other participants will be assisted by „Priroda“ in preparing the business plan for the purposes of self-employment.
