Sarajevo, 1st – 2nd of December 2009. The Conference “Reporting on taboo subjects in the media” was held on 1st and 2nd of December 2009 in cooperation with the Press Council Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Foreign Ministry and dvv international - office in Sarajevo.
Focal subject of the conference was the analysis of past and actual taboo subjects. The programme of the conference was as follows:
- Taboo subjects formerly and today
- Taboo subjects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its bordering counties
- Taboo: Reporting on violence based on gender/race
- Post-modern journalism and taboo subjects
- How can we break taboos and safely work in the journalistic sector
Participants of this conference were 40 journalists. The Ambassador Mr. Joachim Schmidt, as special guest, gave an introductory speech on defining taboos and how to deal with taboos. Lecturers at the conference were Mehmed Halilović, Deputy Ombudsman for Media in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Prof. dr. Miodrag Živanović from the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka.
