Opening of Tailoring Course as part of the Regional Vocational Training Centre in Prizren

January , 2016- There are eight Regional Vocational Training Centers in Kosovo which offer 3-6 month modular free of charge courses for different occupations. These Training Centers are dedicated to unemployed registered persons. Based on the market needs, the DVV International, in cooperation with Regional Vocational Training Centre in Prizren, has opened a new Workshop that will offer Tailoring Courses.

The Project dubbed “Tailoring Course” is a follow up of last year’s Project, which started in cooperation with the Primary School “Bajram Curri” in the village of Romajë – Has Region, which provided training and certificates for 42 Participants. In 2016, the equipment that the DVV International handed over to the Primary School “Bajram Curri” in the village of Romajë has been transferred to the Regional Vocational Training Centre in Prizren, where trainings will be offered for the unemployed persons from the Municipality of Prizren. Due to the large number of persons that have applied to take part in these trainings and demands of Prizren labor market for the tailoring occupation, the training capacities of the Training Centre in Prizren will be expanded even more and opportunities will be provided for inclusion of a higher number of participants in the Training.

70 persons, mainly women, are expected to finish the training in 2016, therefore, they will have better employment or self-employment opportunities. According to the official statistics about the registered unemployed persons in Kosovo, 35.11% of them are males and 60% are females.

The Project will specifically include;

·         Raise of the awareness of persons that will take part in the training about business establishment;

·         Building of their tailoring capacities and competencies;

·         Creation of better employment or self-employment conditions for the trainees after the end of the training.

For implementation of this Project, DVV International provided the necessary equipment for opening of this Workshop and a Trainer with monthly salary, whereas the Regional Vocational Training Centre in Prizren offered learning programs for the Tailoring profession and will conduct the assessment and certification of the participants of this training (Programs that will be offered to the training participants are recognized by the National Qualifications Authority in Kosovo).
